Get started
FindIP is an MCP (Model Context Protocol) server that gives LLMs semantic search across 25 years of patents from US · KR · JP · CN · EP. The fastest way in is to register a single URL in Claude Web (claude.ai) — done in 3 minutes.
Connect Claude Web in 3 minutes
Open claude.ai connectors
In claude.ai's left sidebar, click Customize → Connectors → the + button at the top right → Add custom connector.
Register the MCP URL
Name: anything (e.g. FindIP), URL:
You don't need to open Advanced settings — FindIP handles standard OAuth automatically, so leave the OAuth Client ID / Secret fields blank and just click Add. When the popup appears, sign in once to FindIP and approve the permissions. Tokens auto-refresh after that.
Allow the tools
Once connected, a tool-permission list appears. For each FindIP tool you'll use (findip_search_patents, etc.), pick ✓ Always allow — or switch the Ask first dropdown at the top to Always allow to apply it in one go. Then Claude searches right away instead of asking each time.
Ask in natural language
Ask any patent-related question in Claude. The LLM will call FindIP and answer with real data.
Example prompt
"Summarize the top 5 patents by major KR/US/JP applicants over the past 5 years on solid electrolytes that suppress lithium-dendrite growth in solid-state batteries, with claim summaries."
Use it in other AI tools
FindIP also works with ChatGPT, Gemini, MS Copilot, Perplexity, and local LLMs such as Ollama and LM Studio. During the beta, however, FindIP officially supports the Claude connection only — the guides for the other tools below are provided for reference and will be officially supported soon.
Get the most from search
FindIP is semantic (meaning-based) search, not keyword matching. Quality goes up sharply when you ask the LLM in full sentences describing your goal or problem instead of short keywords. We also have guides per task type.
